Travel Art: Vietnam

Vietnam does not stock pencils. I asked and asked all round several markets and got just got pure laughed at, 'children's toy' they were calling them... 'no mistake in Vietnam.' I was ITCHING for a blumin piece of paper and a pencil. Anyway I found a suvonyier book in the deep depths of a very meaty market and a pen in pencil in a shop, for children. When I eventually got the supplies I didn't draw anything decent but I just missed having a doodle, 2 whole weeks of my life! Never again.

I visited the country for 3 weeks and travelled from the top to the bottom by bus and train with my mum. It was amazing. The country is busting with culture and feels historical although most of the country has been rebuilt after the war only 50 years ago. The people are incredible, I called it the most caring yet care free country. They're SO laid back the scooters everywhere, no fears about safety and they eat on tiny stools right next to the mad roads. Yet they are so caring, like really kind, we were on a bus for over 4 hours and they pick us up from our door and drop us at our next. We stayed in peoples homes and one family called my Mum, Mum. A very smiley country and the people defiantly made our trip.

This was our journey:

These are my Vietnam illustrations so far...
