Campsite landscape wall mural

Park Foot Campiste, Ullswater January 2026

This project is a special mural commission at Park Foot Campsite on Lake Ullswater, right on the lake and just a small mooch to Pooley Bridge. It’s my biggest and most exposed piece so far, my first time painting a landscape on a wall, completing the space by painting the ceiling too. I wanted to create a warm, immersive mural that wraps around the takeaway room, giving people something to enjoy and recognise while they wait for their food.

I wanted to capture the tranquil yet lively vibe of the spot through a painterly landscape. Starting with pink mountains and patterned trees, I moved from my reference drawing into freestyle and trusting my instincts as the mural developed. I aimed to create something original in such a photographed place, adding personal touches like the owners’ pets and local wildlife. Towards the end, I introduced movement into the clouds and water to make the scene feel alive, imagining the view from the perspective of geese flying over the lake.

I’ve spent the last two years living and working at Park Foot, soaking up the local fells and lake which reignited my passion to create. While working in the bar and restaurant, I began establishing myself as an artist inspired by the Cumbrian landscapes. Being able to paint here in my own style and colours, with total creative freedom was a full circle moment. The warm colours and wrapped around design make the space welcoming and impactful, an explosion of appreciation across the walls. I hope it reflects my love for the spot and is enjoyed by fellow nature enthusiasts who come to stay at the site.
