Verey Book Shop, Pooley Bridge, January 2026 back at Very Book Shop with a freshly painted window. This one is a whimsical, romantic piece featuring geese and boxing hares, immersed in patterns that evoke folklore and countryside tale vibes. I kept the colours soft and muted to give the shop a gentle spring feel, finishing it off with fresh leaves and blossoming flower buds to bring an optimistic sense of the season changing. As ever, it was a joy to work amongst the bookshop

Verey Book Shop, Pooley Bridge, December 2025 Fueled by coffee and homemade soup, I got to paint a large flying owl across the windows of this beautiful independent bookshop, the beating heart of Pooley Bridge. The staff at the shop wanted the owl to capture the wild soul of winter, a touch of whimsy, perfect in a painterly style. The process was a joy from start to finish.

Verey Book Shop, Pooley Bridge, October 2025 My first time let loose with paint solo was a little daunting, but so exciting, especially in the lovely Pooley Bridge. I love this shop, it got the ball rolling and led to some pretty great projects. This piece features a fleet of foxes in the wind, inspired by Richard Osman’s 'We Solve Murders,' book covers designed by Richard Bravery.

Verey Book Shop, Pooley Bridge, April 2026 The staff at the bookshop came up with this idea, inspired by classic fly-fishing book covers like Fly Fishing by J. R. Hartley that for some reason, seems to entertain some customers. I was chuffed to use my comfort colour palette, greens and pinks, painting loose brushstrokes over a blended base. The final look is bold and playful, sitting nicely alongside fellow fishy books, ready for summer by the lake.
